#72 ~ Rabid Lamb Comics

Ah, Kim’s Video. An awesome place. A place I will hugely miss if ever I should leave NYC. Adam will probably weep buckets. This is the kind of store not found just anywhere. The service is notoriously “snotty” with a dash of “who gives a shit” but the selection available is unbeatable. And while the service is bad in a way it’s also excellent, because everyone working there really knows their stuff and nobody is over-solicitous and “disneyland employee like”. I’ll take “who gives a shit” over “disneyland” levels of service any day.

We have an account at Kim’s for the movie I’m working on, to rent stuff for the director, and one of those snotty employees derisively mocked a PA we sent over there to rent Love, Actually. Dicks.

That totally blows. Although, they do work at basically a video store (albeit the best one on the planet) perhaps we should cut them some slack for having attitude problems. We both have attitude problems…and more prospective “careers” than anyone working there…

Ohhhhh, new Cat Power? I’m constantly rocking her album The Greatest. Will have to check it out. The problem though with cool music shops is that they are often infested with snobs. Think High Fidelity (a fav of mine). But it is worth all the upturned noses to see a lot of indie and unknown bands getting so much love. Fuck Britney Spears!

I bet that last line will help out your search terms.

Hey! Speak for yourself on the attitude front! :)

And I prefer to call them “hobbies” as opposed to prospective careers.

Paul: I loooove Cat Power. The Greatest is…well, the greatest. Do you have You Are Free? I think that’s my fav, although I haven’t had a chance to check this one out yet…

Josh: Haha. If you don’t have an attitude problem then neither do I…yay for both of us!!

A Kim’s employee is a running joke in NY that doesn’t translate anywhere else. Did anyone see the owner’s movie? He closed two branches to make that movie. I hope it was good.
