Stupidest Quote of the Day, Week, Month, Year…Maybe of All Time…

youngblood

“Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and ‘Youngblood‘ is one of the few comic books left with tentpole potential,” Ratner said.

This from a CBR story that Youngblood has been acquired for Brett Ratner to direct for mid-six figures.

I can’t even begin to take apart Ratner’s statement because it’s so ridiculous.  Also, anyone that knows ANYTHING about comics and graphic novels can tell you he doesn’t know a god damn thing about comics based on this sentence.  Which kind of explains the whole X3 nightmare.

I guess the silver lining in all of this is that Youngblood sucks pretty hard already and Ratner sucks the biggest amount possible, so they’re kind of a match made in heaven.  Since Ratner’s goal in life seems to be going around ruining awesome stuff (again – the X Franchise, among other things) then I’d rather he’s kept busy on something that kind of sucks to begin with.  As Adam put it when he brought my attention to this article – “a perfect storm of suck”.  Well said Adam, well said.

I think it would be a perfect storm of suck, a TRUE perfect storm, if Keanu Reeves was in the movie. If Reeves plays Shaft (the guy with the bow), with Ratner directing one of the shittiest comics of all time creates a vortex of suck that could destroy the planet.

Side note: calling Youngblood a graphic novel is an insult to the words graphic and novel. There should be a new word for comics that bad. “Shit Pamphlet”. That is what they should be called. I have some news for the Ratner, there are a ton of shit pamphlets out there that you could buy. Why don’t you direct a bunch of those and put the chairman from Iron Chef America in the lead roles. I hate you.

To be fair to Ratner (I can’t believe that sentence just came out of my mouth…or keyboard) I don’t think he was calling Youngblood a graphic novel…he did specifically call it a comic book…although I know you have very specific ideas about graphic novel v comic books…so maybe that’s all you meant.

Regardless, he’s a moron of the highest order.

Also…are there still Youngblood fans? And even if there are…are they out there to the tune of 500k? Sometimes I wake up and wonder what the F I’m doing on this planet…is there really a rousing cry for a Youngblood movie…worse by using the word “tentpole” he implies Youngblood FRANCHISE. And actually, he almost admits (just shy of it in his quote) that Youngblood is NOT good…hence the “all the good graphic novels are already optioned” bit of his sentence… OY!

Just to clarify…I’m sure we all know that when you say “I hate you” you’re referring to Ratner…and not to me…THE 1979 Semi-Finalist? :)

I’d bet $20 the target release sate for this piece of shit is December 21, 2012.

Why would anybody give Brett Ratner spare change for a bowl of soup, much less money to make…wait a minute, let me check the post again…..Yep – that’s what I thought it said–money to make fucking YOUNGBLOOD?

Also – it needs to be stated as a G.I. Joe aficionado – who is the assclown that gave Stephen Sommers the helm of the live action GI Joe movie?

get them up against the wall.

You and I sound like we’re sharing the same brain.

The G.I. Joe preview was pretty disappointing across the board. My little fangirl heart sank like a stone.
