jokes

So there was a joke made on this past week’s 3 Chicks Review Comics Podcast about podcasting in catsuits (if you haven’t listened to the episode yet, do so now!)…and then Greg Burgas expanded on it in his What I Bought Column this week on CSBG…so I decided to do a little sketch for him to illustrate how TOTALLY TRUE IT IS THAT I RECORD PODCASTS IN A CATSUIT (and use my boyfriend as an ottoman to boot).  Enjoy!

*please note that objects in image are generally smaller than in real life…and that the above representation is in no way a reflection of reality…i.e. “these are the jokes people”.

I could have tried to draw a rabid lamb in panel three, but instead I decided on shameless self promotion.  Can you blame me?  It was both easier and more rewarding…a win win!  Whoo.  I’m on a big deadline (must be postmarked by tomorrow) AND I have to go to a work event tonight, so I’m under lots of time pressure lately, but I promise to put more effort in as soon as the deadline passes.  Thanks for hanging in there!

Hmm…think you’ve stumbled onto the wrong comic (mostly because you’re shocked to be seeing COLOR)? No, but April Fools!

The above strip is a little cross-promotion fun that Paul Abbamondi of My Life Comics and I came up with…we cartoonists really know how to have a good time don’t we? Paul actually came up with the idea and suggested it to me, although I think he was inspired by Adam’s guest strip a few weeks ago.

It was a great suggestion though, especially since I LOVE another blog called Pencils At Dawn which is a “competition” between two insanely talented cartoonists Mike Jacobsen of See Mike Draw and Phil (no last name?) of The Rut, as they battle it out by drawing competing cartoons/strips and posting them on their Pencils At Dawn site, it’s a great idea, and they are by far two of the best cartoonists I have found on the web.

Anyway, Paul and I humbly offer up our meager cross-promotion April Fools Day fun for your enjoyment – to get the full effect please go over to his site as well and check out the cartoon I did for his strip.

Sorry guys. I wouldn’t really say I was as much out of ideas this week as time. I was sick Monday and Tuesday (and another minor back injury – yea!) and then I’ve been doing some work at home, including today, so I had to hurry up and finish this comic and get it up while I had access to a scanner (long story). End of story, it’s rushed and I apologize. But I liked the joke, and we all know that my comics are more about the words than the pictures anyway, so just read it with your eyes closed or something…um, no, that probably won’t work out either.

Also, what do we think of “Rabid Lamb Comics”. It’s an image I’ve always liked, the mean and the sweet tangled together in a gross little picture of, well, probably gross…which is kinda like me when I think about it…mean and sweet, hopefully not gross, although to some probably I’m gross…okay, WAY off topic at this point. Anyway, Adam’s pretty into it, but I’m not sold yet.

Thoughts?

find of the day!

thanks to my co-worker Gordon, we at the office had a little too much fun with the orgasmic calculator this afternoon.  it is truly great – our office laughed harder than we have in quite some time (for about five minutes).

please note, this is likely NOT work appropriate for wherever you may be…

below is a link my co-worker sent me to what i think is a “faked video”, and if it is it’s hilarious. a great bit of past/future filmmaking.

if it is not fake and is in fact a real piece of “history”, then it’s pretty fascinating to see that while in 1966 they didn’t have the hardware quite right for 1999 they had all the basic ideas going on (email, online shopping, faxing, printing, etc.). it is disappointing however to see that “scientists” could have such great insight to the future of technology, yet zero insight into the future of our society and culture.

as evidenced here, little wifey can order clothing online in 1999 – but then big husband has to be sent the bill so he can pay for it. seriously? they can imagine something like email that didn’t exist at all, but they can’t imagine a woman paying her own way? jesus.

again, let’s hope it’s fake in which case it’s funny and not horrible.
