I gave the podcast a listen to. I haven’t read either Heroes for Hire or She-Hulks, but I do know that Marvel would throw Hulk into the She-Hulk solely for sales – much like how they do Spider-Man and Wolverine in absolutely everything. So whatever he jumped in for the end to say, I would argue that he was put there not for the completionists, but for sales. But I mean, what the hell do I know? I don’t work there!
And X-Men needs an R-Rating. As you said, R-ratings are usually more in-depth and deeper. I just couldn’t imagine a film of the Mutant Massacre, Inferno, Days of Future Past, Dark Phoenix Saga (done properly), X-Cutioner’s Song, Messiah CompleX/Messiah War/Second Coming etc, done with just a PG-13 rating. But like I mentioned, what the hell do I know?
And it wasn’t until your podcast did I really start to consider looking at Marvel pricing compared to DC. But I mean, I would argue quantity over quality – meaning Marvel has more continuity to follow, thusly more work to do than DC. I’m not saying DC is worse off at all either, or gives poor quality comics. I don’t want what I said to be construed in that way. I just mean Marvel has such a vast majority of characters, one-shots, minis, etc, going on all the time due to their ever-expanding growth of characters and major world-wide events that something has to fund it.
But maybe I’m wrong?
