Love this David Yardin piece for X-Factor #228.  Beautiful and haunting and very unique for mainstream superhero comics.

Easy call this week since Skottie Young was participating. His John Carter: A Princess of Mars #3 cover is 100% win:

I’m sorry but Steve Morris is just KILLING these Buffy covers.  Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9 #3:

And this is my favorite of Marko Djurdjevic’s Avengers Origins covers.  Avengers Origins: The Vision (one-shot):

This Northanger Abbey #1 cover by Julian Tedesco Totino is pretty freaking gorgeous:

I’m sure this one will surprise a lot of you, but I LOVE this Uncanny X-Force #17 cover by Esad Ribic.  The colors and lights and darks are absolutely fantastic as is the composition and attitude, and though Psylocke’s costume is obviously a little um…you know…I love that she looks a bit fleshy and real and much less plastic than how so many ladies in comics.

Loved this look by Marco Djurdjevic for Avenger Origins: Ant-Man & The Wasp (one-shot).  Gorgeous.

To be honest, I didn’t the love the writing here, but inside is absolutely stunning Stephanie Hans artwork, so between the cover and the interiors…it’s more than worth a look.

Nobody draws Wolverine better than Chris Bachalo, that alone is enough to merit a cover of the week for Wolverine & The X-Men #1:

Amazing David Aja alternate cover for Secret Avengers #18:

Ryan Sook has been killing these DC Universe Presents covers with Deadman and issue #2 is no exception. In truth I liked it better when the background was more graphic and less detailed, but it’s still great:

Cliff Chiang continues to bring it with Diana on these Wonder Woman covers with issue #2:

I also really like this Daniel Acuna Avengers #18…but I’m a bit of a sucker for the idea of Captain America going through a bunch of headshots to choose his new Avengers team.  Bonus points for Rogue being considered. How far we’ve come my girl, how far we’ve come!  Course we all know it’s going to be Storm, but points for being on the table!

Is there anything that can beat the perfect simplicity of Kate Beaton’s Napoleon from the cover of Hark! A Vagrant?  No, no there’s not.

Also, did you guys check out my CBR Review of the collection?  No?  Do so now!  :)

But since I don’t usually consider graphic novels, trades, and collections for this feature…

Chris Brunner and Rico Renzi’s gorgeous Static Shock #2.  Wonderful color work, composition and movement:

Also, this offering from Stormwatch #2 (much superior to what was originally solicited) by Miguel Sepulveda and Alex Sinclair is pretty awesome. Giant eye with tentacles?  YES.

Some gorgeous covers this week.

Terry Moore’s Rachel Rising #2:

Steve Morris’ Angel & Faith #2:

Ryan Sook’s Justice League Dark #1:

A few gems from this week…

Cliff Chiang’s Wonder Woman #1

And how about this cover, which was an early version by Cliff Chiang that wasn’t used, I like EVEN BETTER.  I mean…Wonder Woman with an awesome battle ax?!  YES.

This is a great illustration for Legion of Super-Heroes #1, and a great example of how to do “floating figures” well…by integrating them into the design so that they’re not actually floating.

Marcos Martin continues to absolutely kill these Daredevil covers.

It’s an easy win this week for J.H. Williams III’s long-awaited Batwoman #1:

But there were some very nice offerings this week beyond Batwoman, so some runner ups!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9 #1 Variant by Steve Morris:

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 9 #1 Variant by Jo Chen:

Mr. Terrific #1 by J.G. Jones:

And Pigs #1 by Jock.  All #1’s…INNNNTERESSSSSTING.
