An easy win this week for this cover by Dustin Nguyen for Gates of Gotham #2. Gorgeous!

Bonus points for Cass Cain being on the next Gates of Gotham Nguyen cover (below).  I hate that silly cape – I mean, capes are silly anyway, but look awesome so we let it go – so when a cape is both extra silly and looks like crap…what’s the point? –  anyway, everything else about this cover is awesome:

A tie this week between two great offerings from DC, first up…

Flashpoint: Deadman & The Flying Graysons #1 by Cliff Chiang and Jared Fletcher.  I kinda doubt I’m going to love the issue itself, but the cover is GORG.

Second, a gorgeous Supergirl #65 by Mahmud Asrar and Guy Major.  I miss Amy Reeder on these, but this is a great consolation prize.  I wish we could have it with the title, but without the hideous Green Lantern ad bar (so ugly).  It’s great work though – wonderful composition, rendering of Supergirl, darks and lights…really fantastic stuff.

Was there any ever doubt?  I love that fucking chicken.

Skottie Young’s Ozma of Oz #7

Gorgeous offering from Daniel Acuna for FF #4 this week:

Easy win for this gorgeous Adam Hughes Zatanna #13 this week.  Her bottoms are a bit on the…skimpy side for my tastes, but in all the other ways that count it’s incredibly restrained for Hughes and I love the color and composition.  Tons of fun and just enough crazy weirdness.

Dustin Nguyen’s stunning Batgirl #21

And Massimo Canivale’s moody Northlanders #40

No freaking contest people.

Skottie Young, boy genius, or something like that.  Check out this Ozma of Oz #6 goodness!

The cover to The New York Five #4 by Ryan Kelly, even though it’s my least favorite of the four covers to be released (all were spectacular), is still an easy win this week.

If you guys haven’t been reading The New York Five, I urge you to seek it out, or pick it up in trade if it gets released.  Some great stuff by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly…no surprise there.  It’s also a lot of content for a really low price.  The issues run about 32 pages, but only $2.99.  You can’t beat that!

Not a strong covers week for my books, but I really liked this creepy Mike Del Mundo Generation Hope #6 cover.  It’s even better once you read the interior story, which rocks.  Woo!

Not a strong week for my comic covers, so it’s an easy win for this lovely cover from Esad Ribic for Uncanny X-Force #7, even though it’s not remotely his best work on Uncanny X-Force thus far…
