I had to take a few liberties with this one, because while he did wake me up talking in his sleep about Civ. 4, it wasn’t anything as simple as “Aluminum”. He talked about aluminum and his need to get it, or have it, or invent it or whatever, when he was fully conscious earlier in the week. Clearly I was really listening to him too.
Anyway, the days of Civ. 4 are coming to a close as Adam worked a freelance day yesterday and also found out yesterday that he got a new job – starts Monday! Congratulations to Adam…there’s not much work out there with the writer’s strike on, but any work he can get before things fully shut down is really good news, because it’s looking like this thing could go on for quite a while. And we will be poorer than ever.
Sidenote: We fully support the writer’s strike. The production Adam is working on could get stopped at anytime because of the strike, but currently they already have finished scripts, so they can at least start production…or at least that’s my understanding of it.

At least he’s not playing Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 that much. Might be an even scarier wake-up call.
Grenade!!
And I have mixed feelings about the writer’s strike. While I support them, I want them to at least finish the current season of the shows I’m watching now. After that, strike for a year or until you get what you want. I don’t care, as long as it makes you happy. I can always read a book, right?

but there is inherently no power in striking “off season” unless they hold out until the following season (in which case viewers get screwed out of new programming anyway). you obviously have your best chance to strike when you’re in a position of power, and hopefully all the better to get it over with more quickly. When the rich fat studios see that they are talentless and not worth much without any actual talent, and by talent, i include not just writers but all the creatives involved, hopefully they will see the light.
i don’t know if you’ve read much about the details of the writer’s strike, but it’s a big one. the old contract did not deal with new types of media (downloading and streaming videos on netflix, etc.) as they were not really issues at the time. but as any idiot knows, this is the way the industry (and the world) is heading, so if they don’t get changes made now, there will be nothing for them in the end. this strike is also important, and is getting so much support by others (actors, directors, talent, etc.) because their contracts are all coming up as well. the writers are just the first. if they don’t take a hard stand and get some demands met then it will just be harder for everyone that follows them.
it is nerve wracking though, because the sides seem miles apart right now. i guess that’s why we’ve got all these dire preditictions out there.
i do worry about great programming that is out there (PUSHING DAISIES!) that may die out because of this issue. shows like PD come around very rarely and take a very specific kind of nurturing to survive…this is not going to help things…

I’m surprised he hasn’t done the job of ruining the CD. If he played it so much, he should’ve have burned a hole in it already. Force him to play it some more and he will plan his own demise.

Hilarious. Loved it. Actually laughed loudly at work with my boss behind me, at which point I had to quickly switch back to my excel spreadsheet and pretend that changing the cells to different colors was funny.

scottyt: laughing out loud is certainly the goal. everyone seemed to love this strip. perhaps i will just reproduce it over and over again with different word balloons – adam would love that. he does talk enough in his sleep to make it possibly possible. i don’t know that i could always make it funny though…
thanks for the support bro.
