This one is a bit misleading”fact-wise”, though I like it.
In the end we decided not to go anywhere in an effort to save money, and so that we could perhaps go on a “big trip” to Europe (or somewhere out of country) in 2009…2010…well, someday, and not just because we couldn’t agree on a location. It’s ironic that Adam and I actually both love to travel and have very similar interests, they just never seem to kind of perfectly line up…when I feel like Greece he’s feeling Ireland…when I feel like Philly he’s feeling like Vermont…it’s frustrating.
We had actually agreed to go to Boston for our Anniversary this year and were both quite excited about it (me maybe just for the seafood – clam chowder and lobster rolls – whee!) but we pulled out at the last minute, deciding that the grand we would probably spend on a two or three day trip was better left in our savings accounts considering the year we have ahead (and the never-ending writer’s strike). It was a good choice. I don’t think either of us regret it…especially since I ended up getting sick for part of the time we would have been gone.
What about you guys…any dream destinations? Best places you have already visited?

I fulfilled one of my dream vacations last Sept with a trip to Italy. It was incredible. Lots of good food-and so much fresh fish (although I usually stuck with pizza, pasta & shrimp…mmmm…mushroom risotto with big-ass shrimp.)
This year, we’ll be keeping most of our travels to the east coast while recuperating financially from that trip. But it was so worth it.

Dream destinations are too many to list. So I’ll leave it at the remaining 6 continents.
As to places I’ve been and want to go back? That’s a bit easier. In no particular order:
– Mt. Rushmore (they were just getting ready to re-vamp it when I was there).
– Grand Canyon (I’ve been 4 or 5 times and still love it. But I want to go to the bottom and camp too.)
– The River Walk in San Antonio (the Alamo was okay, but this looked like Venice to me)
– Painted Desert (always cool to look at, but I’d like to take some westerns along next time to see where they shot some of the scenes)
– The Biltmore Estate (in Asheville, NC – we’re currently planning a “big” trip there for our 10th anniversary in 2010)And if I recall Adam is a writer, right? So the strike impacts him? If so, good idea to stay close to home until things smooth out. And being in NYC means you should be fairly close to some good seafood. Maybe you can wear a Celtics uniform or something when you go out to eat and pretend you’re in Boston.

We spent several days in Rome, then traveled down to Sorrento and spent several days checking out the coast with a day trip to Capri, then a day & night in Naples before going home.
I loved Rome & the coast for very different reasons. Naples had some beautiful scenery and some interesting sites, but I wouldn’t go back.
I think Rome takes the edge as our fav city of those we visited. So much going on there, so much history, just lots to do and lots of fun.
Hey, TK, we’re going to San Antonio on the 23rd with plans to do the Riverwalk & the Alamo. Been there and done all that before, but this time we’re taking my mom to visit his mom, and since it’s been a few years since the last visit, I figured it’d be fun to do again.
I really, really want to visit Yellowstone Park, preferably in the winter.

TK42ONE, I’m not a writer (yet) but I do work in film/tv so I’m impacted by the strike.
Italy would be a fantastic destination but it’s difficult for me to rank my desired destinations because I really want to go to Ireland.
In the U.S. there are so many places I’d like to see. Having driven across the country before, I saw a lot but the interstate in a state isn’t the best representation of a state’s beauty. I want to see Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc… I also really want to go to Bute, Montana for some reason.

TK42ONE: I’ve never been to Mt. Rushmore…but always thought it would be pretty cool.
The Biltmore Estate sounds like an incredible trip – I know you mentioned that on Paul’s blog as well and it sounded totally luxurious.
Adam is a director (and a writer in the sense that he wants to direct his own work – among other things). But he makes his living working in film/tv. He has been lucky to work on a show that already had their scripts locked down, but that show wraps soon, so it’s a little nerve wracking.
We have some AMAZING seafood here. I’m definitely not complaining.
wearing a celtics uniform could totally get me shot…what are you trying to do to me!
Trina: Glad to know I’m right about Rome. Can’t wait. I’ve been to Yellowstone, but I was a bratty teen that wanted to be left alone, so I should probably give it another go. It was beautiful…even to my bratty teen eyes.
Adam: As if to prove me right that we can’t agree, I have no interest in Bute Montana (?where did this come from?) and have already seen the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone (though I would do both again with you happily).
-
Adam – I’m almost afraid to ask what show as it might be one of those I don’t like. And generally speaking, anything between the Mississippi River and California is OK in my book.
Kelly – No, not trying to get you shot, just trying to create that atmosphere. Maybe a fake Boston accent would work better.
And it’s Butte (that’s the OCD kicking in).
-
TK42ONE: I was wondering about that…I’m familiar with Crested Butte Colorado, but had never heard of Butte Montana. What exactly is wrong with the EAST COAST…huh?!
Most of the shows Adam has the pleasure of working on suck and he’s the first to say it. Sadly in his industry you take what’s available and if you have the option to get choosy you’re more likely pick a production with great people working on it, rather than necessarily great material . However earlier this year he worked on Damages which is/was an awesome show. I’ve often sung its praises on this site.
