1979 semi-finalist

You are currently browsing the archive for the 1979 semi-finalist category.

Just a heads up to let all of you know that I’m in the process of porting the blog over to my website (hopefully exciting things are coming!) so if you experience any weirdness in the next few days, that’s probably why and will hopefully be temporary.

Thanks as always for reading…stick around for cool new stuff coming soon! :)

In the past I’ve gone all out with celebrating…and by “all out” I mean doing a drawing (impressive, right?) but I’m so buried in Kickstarter and everything else, I just haven’t had time. So give you the GREATEST. IMAGE. EVER.

Oh, and an updated hit count: 1,326,656

WOO!!!! Since last year we didn’t quite have 900,000 that means we got nearly 430k in hits over the past 12 months. Which is pretty good, especially since I’ve been so busy with other things. And considering that the hit count for our first year was a paltry 42k.

Thanks to all of you for keeping this blog nice and vibrant. Lots of potentially interesting things in the future…promise! 😉

Remember when it was just 300,000 we were so excited about?

Final Cover Design for The Girl Who Would Be King. Illustration by Stephanie Hans

Here’s a link to the Kickstarter – enjoy!

Also, please check out the website for the book as it has tons of information and cool extras – including hidden pages (hint – look for them on the Bonnie vs Lola illustration page)!

Oh, and the wonderful Michael May over at Robot 6 wrote a piece on the Kickstarter – thanks Michael!

So…after far too long, 1979 Semi-Finalist (the website, not the blog) has been updated.  If you haven’t been by in a while, head on over and check it out.  I don’t think there’s anything revolutionary, but lots of new links and news, a few new images.  Good times.

Thanks to everyone for all the support and awesome words of encouragement!

It’s hard to believe that it was only a year ago that I met Tim and his adorable girls Grace and Cate and was introduced to their great family drawing project 5 Minute Marvels.  I’ve been awestruck by all they’ve done this year – both as a family bonding project and in getting great artists involved in the adventure.  I am not a great artist, but I am a big fan and advocate of all they’re doing over there.  If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do so, and if it’s been a while, head on back and say hi.  There’s so much great art and wonderful energy to explore over there…it’s pretty much guaranteed to brighten your day.

And thanks Tim, for all the support over the last year, and mostly for letting me draw with you again for your anniversary!

Ms Marvel - the original inspiration for the project! - by Grace and Tim

Ms. Marvel by me. I've never drawn Ms. Marvel before (being a massive Rogue fan it somehow felt wrong) but it was tons of fun.

I finally bit the bullet and did some business cards.  Nothing too serious, just a fun (read: cheap) card from the good people at MOO with some contact information and a little sketch.  Something I could hand out in case I’m ever again in one of those situations where it’s appropriate (and so I don’t have to spend 15 hours creating hand drawn cards like last time).  My future business card is a gorgeous letterpress card with a new logo that will cost a fortune and be too valuable to actually give out.  Come to momma future business card!

I did remove my phone number in case any of you perverts get any weird ideas about giving me a call.  :)

That’s right, it’s finally here dear readers, the totally not long awaited debut of my website 1979 Semi-Finalist.

Please check it out and let me know what you think.  You may have noticed that I removed some pages on the blog but if you go to the website I’ve replaced the material there.  In addition to a detailed bibliography and excerpts from several stories (as well as I Hate The French still available in its entirety) there’s also a bio, contact information, a news & development section, and artwork.

If you ever liked my Rabid Lamb comic strip, or wanted to like it but missed it or found it hard to navigate, there’s a nice easy to use slideshow full of “The Best Of Rabid Lamb”.

Enjoy!
